I’m not confident enough:
Trying out something new, travelling to new places, or being with people you don’t know can be daunting at first. But over time, you may find that taking up an activity helps increase your self‐confidence as you become fitter and improve your skills:
- Ask someone you trust to help you get started – some clubs will allow you to attend with a friend or support worker for the first few sessions while you get used it.
- Some sport governing bodies promote sessions aimed at people who may have similar problems to you — and these sessions are often run by people who understand your needs.
- Try something you can do on your own – there’s lots of options if you don’t feel confident about exercising with other people.
